Jan 1st: Public holiday. Expo-Acapulco. Is an established commercial/industrial conference. Its prime function is to attract investment to Acapulco. The conference takes place late December thru Early January. March Acapulco Carnival. Downtown Acapulco hosts various parades, and a king and queen are crowned. we suggest to book early for this season. Acapulco Tianguis Turistico. Tianguis is an Old Mexican word for open-air market (Mercado). During the second week in April a special market, especially for tourists, gets into full swing in Acapulco. This is with no doubt the largest tourist show in Mexico May Acapulco Fest. One of the main cultural events in Acapulco, featuring pop, rock, electronic and other concerts as well as sports activities. Black Film Festival. Annual showcase of new films by black directors from the U.S., Latin America, Europe and beyond, as well as workshops, panels and discussions. dives each day at La Quebrada. For schedule and
other information, call 831-400. October Acapulco Sound World Festival. Three-day festival of electronic, jazz, house and dance music. UFO Conference - If you like UFOs the Annual World UFO Conference gathers in Acapulco.
Acapulco Fair. Held at the Acapulco Convention Center where Mexican food is served, mechanical games, theater presentations, crafts are available.
16-24 Dec. Las Posadas. Each night the faithful re-enact Joseph and Mary's search for posada (shelter) on their journey to Belen. For the less devout, it's an excuse for a party. Many hotels and restaurants hold their own posada festivities.
Guadalupe Virgin Festival. Virgin Guadalupe is Mexico's patron saint, and in Acapulco December 11 is festival to celebrate the Virgin with parties and street processions taking place on December 11th and 12th.
